From the moment he first saw the stallion, he knew it would either destroy him or carry him where no-one had ever been before. *
“Beautiful head. The head was that of the wildest of all wild creatures—a stallion born wild—and it was beautiful, savage, splendid. A stallion with a wonderful physical perfection that matched his savage, ruthless spirit.”
“You've never in your life seen a horse run so fast! He's all power-all beauty.”
"His mane was like a crest, mounting, then falling low. His neck was long and slender, and arched to the small, savagely beautiful head."

This work is based on an image I took back in 2007 on a trip to the west coast of the USA with a group of fellow Arabian horse lovers. This young, blue black, fine coated stallion was presented to us during a stud tour of Arabian horse farms in the Santa Ynez Valley in California. There is nothing horse lovers love more than to visit with other equally besotted folk and admire their stock. Except maybe showing your herd to others.
The hospitality we experienced during our short tour of California and Arizona was so warm and inviting. Nothing was too much trouble. I found the people we met were, like Aussies, keenly interested in getting to know a bit about us and immensely proud to share their country and their lives with us.
If you get the chance to visit, grab it. I have wonderful memories of my few short weeks there.
