Creating Digital Art for a Digital World

I love art, music, horses, the world around me and I love to take photographs of it all. In my early life I drew in pencil and pen and painted, mostly in acrylics, though I did love water colour and oils too. I loved to create large pieces of brightly coloured abstracts as well as detailed line drawings of nature, particularly horses. These days my canvas is often Photoshop, my brushes and pencils, a Wacom tablet and stylus and my palette of photos, textures, hand painted backgrounds and overlays.

By combining hand painted textures, digitally altered photographs, sketches, paint drips, everyday textures such as coffee stains, concrete, brick and nature, with my native images, I create unique mixed media, digital trans-formative paintings touched by the music filtering through my headphones.

The tools of my trade are my cameras, canvas, water-colour paper, acrylic paints and mediums, an HP laptop connected to an Eizo monitor, loaded with Adobe Photoshop CC, Lightroom and Bridge. Le sigh. I also use a nice little professional wireless Epson inkjet printer filled with archival quality inks.

My current camera is a digital bridge camera. That's a camera a bit above compact and just below SLR. It's a Nikon Coolpix B700 with 60x zoom lens that goes from 24 mm to 1440 mm, which is kinda cool. It is what is called a bridge camera, between a point and shoot digital and a DSLR. Frequently attached to this camera is a Manfrotto monopod, a totally cool stand for when the arms are just too shaky, or the zoom is fully out.

I'm also partial to my iPhone 11 camera and have a nice selection of lenses to play with.

Now I'm creating digital art stories with real critters and real world scenes and sharing them here. It's kind of exciting really. You're never too old to learn and never too old to start a new career.
