Compositing, or blending two or more images together

What do you get when you take two images and turn them into one image. You get a composite image, one image that blends together two or more images into a new image, to tell a story, provide an eye pleasing collage, or any number of reasons. The aim is to produce an image that looks like it might have been taken that way. Fanart is a great way to practice the skills of compositing.

Well, if you're in the Christmas spirit, this....

But what if you then enlarge this image, colourise it and change the theme...

It becomes a colour image...

Then add this image... .

You get this.... .

PS: the gifs aren't mine, except the last one. I adopted these last year. They were made by the loupgaroux and are on her Tumblr page. They are just so fab, aren't they?

PPS: I used Photoshop's 3D for the text. Neat, isn't it?

PPPS: How long did this take. Well, 2 or 3 hours for the new version and probably something similar when I created the original piece for the 2014 Christmas event.
